Lumbini
It is the birthplace of Lord Buddha, the apostle of peace, compassion, and non-violence. Situated 250 kilometers southwest of Katmandu, Lumbini abounds in artifacts of Buddhist antiquity. The broken Asokan pillar, the remnant of an old monastery, the image of Buddha’s mother Maya Devi, etc are still preserved in Lumbini. There are every day flights to Bhairahawa from where it is 17kilometers west to get Lumbini.
